Prerolls, postrolls, and midrolls are all forms of secondary content that intentionally interrupt the primary content that a viewer is intending to watch.
As the name suggests, a midroll plays midway through a piece of content. Midroll ads are common in TV shows and sports programs. Midroll bumpers are sometimes used to announce leaving the program for an ad break, or returning from an ad break with a voice over saying "We now return to the program."
