A Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a system that serves as a cache to provide consumers with better access to content. CDNs were originally created to help distribute and deliver static content such as websites and images, but now provide specific functionality for streaming video. Common CDNs include Akamai, Fastly, Limelight, Level3, CloudFront, and many others.
