Latency

Published At: March 5, 2024

Latency or video latency refers to the time from when a camera captures action in real life to when a viewer sees that action on their screen.

For Mux, we define latency as 3 different types:

  • Standard latency which is above 20 seconds
  • Reduced latency which is 12-20 seconds
  • Low-latency which is 12s to as low as 5 seconds

Other streaming providers may have different average ranges for the different types latency.
